BET manages Angus Wood, a small (0.5ha) plot of young woodland situated amongst housing near Blandford town centre. Planted by the Woodland Trust for Mrs Jean Angus in 1985, and donated to the community by the Angus Family in 1990, it is leased by the Woodland Trust to BET so that it could be permanently open to the public and used as a setting for nature-based, storytelling and other events. We began in 2020 to bring climate change and ecological concerns to the forefront of thinking within this small Dorset village. With the parish council we installed cycle racks at the village hall and ran a Plastic Free July campaign in 2021. During 2022/23 Leigh Talks covered topics from plastic pollution, transport, energy, farming, food waste, textile mending skills and gardening. We look at individual’s choice and change.

A community campaign to improve the Piddletrenthide to Piddlehinton bridleway to make it passable in all weathers but in keeping with its rural surrounds. We want to encourage more people to get out cycling, walking and riding and link the communities of Piddletrenthide and Piddlehinton and provide an alternative to the busy B3143. We want to provide a safe route to school, to the local pubs, businesses and amenities and to link friends. We want to reduce parking in the villages and we want to reduce car usage. We want to make the Piddle Path usable for everyone; for the less mobile, for wheel chairs and buggies.
