Yew Tree House

Yew Tree House was built from SIPS with the second best air-tightness rating of any non-passivhaus the tester had measured.

- roof integrated solar panels across an entire roof plane, generating up to 56kWh of electricity in a day

- 2 Sonnen batteries with 10kWh capacity

- Nibe air-source heat pump as the sole generator of heat, feeding wet underfloor heating on the ground floor only

- MVHR system throughout, with a heat exchanger capturing 95% of heat from the air vented out of the building

I have moved onto a feed-in tariff contract with Octopus. Last month I saved £175 compared to what our kWh use would have cost without solar, and made a net profit of £21 on my energy, ie: Octopus paid me £21 more for the energy we fed into the grid than the cost of the energy we used.

The Garden is open under the National Gardens Scheme https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/yew-tree-house-dt2/ .
